ILAE UK Chapter Constitution

1.  The United Kingdom Chapter of the International League against Epilepsy is a registered UK charity subject to the regulations of the Charities Commission.

2.  The aims of United Kingdom Chapter of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) are to:

   •  Co-ordinate the activities of those interested in the better care and treatment of people with epilepsy

   •  Stimulate interest in the clinical, social and scientific aspects of the disorder

   •  Actively participate in the business of the ILAE.

3.  The Chapter will hold an Annual General Meeting during the course of its Annual Scientific and Educational Meeting.

4.  Between meetings the organisation and administration of the Chapter will be the responsibility of the Council. The Council may form sub-committees of its membership with specific responsibilities to be determined by Council.

5.  Council will consist of the following members:

   I    A President nominated and elected by members and serving for 3 years (renewable for one term).

   II   Immediate past President (serving for 3 years).

   III  Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer, both to be nominated and elected by members (serving for 5 years and re-appointable).

   IV  Three members (each to serve for 3 years) nominated and elected by members.

6.  Council may co-opt additional members to the Council from any discipline to serve for periods of 3 years, as necessary to provide appropriate representation.

7.  As need may arise, the Council may co-opt other members with specific expertise or responsibilities.

8.  Changes to the Constitution of the Chapter require a two-thirds majority of those voting at an Annual General Meeting.
